The 5 Trends Men Hate and Women Love
I wanted to delve into something any true fashionista rarely thinks about: what men have to say about what we're wearing. It all started with Leandra Medine coining her namesake brand "The Man Repeller" which she defines as "she who outfits herself in a sartorially offensive mode that may result in the repelling of members of the opposite sex." Some trends that I just can't resist are man repelling gold mines. Let's get into it.
Skorts
Why Men
Hate Them: You look like a child. Skorts remind men of their boyish days: spent
on the playground chasing girls in skorts they could never get.
Why
Women Love Them: They are skirts. With shorts. Do you understand how freakin’
awesome that is!? Now when Tequila Tuesday comes around and you end up dancing
on the bar, you will have no fear of slipping more than your shot of Patron to
the patrons below you.
Why Men
Hate Them: Simple. They’re ugly. Really
ugly. But that’s the thing about fashion and the magical wonders of the Olsen
Twins: once they wear something it becomes socially acceptable, if not quietly required
to wear it. Example A: Birkenstocks.
Why
Women Love Them: But they’re comfortable!
we cry. Now that the faux pas that is wearing Birkenstocks has been lifted,
women have absolutely no desire to say farewell to this new trend: comfortable
footwear. With one-step slide application and Tempur-Pedic-like soles,
Birkenstocks are now somewhat irresistible.

Why Men
Hate Them: “They remind me of my grandma.”
Why
Women Love Them: Breaking just below the knee, midi skirts both accentuate the
waist and slim the lower body. Also, they are appropriate for a corporate
setting while keeping you comfortable and free!
some extra suggestions:
Why Men
Hate Them: In the words of my boyfriend: “Are you Japanese? Didn’t think so!”
But wait, would you like them if I was? The answer was still sadly no. When it
comes to the boys, keep these traditional Japanese garments for traditional
Japanese occasions.
Why
Women Love Them: Because anything that is roomy and waves in the wind is fun.
Duh. No but actually, in the eyes of us women, we love kimonos. With all the
modern takes on cut, color, and pattern, in the warmer summer months, kimonos
work as the perfect throw-on piece. Kimonos can tie an outfit together as well
as keep you warm in an evening breeze or air-conditioned restaurant.

Why Men
Hate Them: When asking a few guy friends why they hate this newest trend, there
wasn’t that same evulsion to soft pants as the rest of the trends here. They
mostly agreed they just didn’t think soft pants were all that flattering on
girls. Fair enough.
Why
Women Love Them: We disagree. I work in the buying department for a major
department store, which means I’m surrounded by about 60 girls and 1.5 (high
estimate) men every day. I think we’d all agree soft pants are one the best
trends to move into the workplace, which are also perfectly wearable outside
the office! They are made of comfortable (and wrinkle-free, if you’re lucky!)
material, the high waist allows you to hide more unforgiving areas, and with a
tapered leg, they can really accentuate the lower body.

Now, the whole point of this article was to poke some fun at the difference in opinions between genders. By no means am I telling you ladies to stop wearing your favorite new trends because of what the boys think— if anything, I say wear them in spite of men!
